Description / Abstract
This project studied how the women in the Imperial Ottoman Harem during the reign of Sueliman I were portrayed in the modern Turkish television series 'Magnificent Century.' The series contained three themes involving women interacting with other women, women in politics, and motherhood within the Harem. Several episodes exemplifying these themes were chosen and analyzed through a historical and feminist lens.
