This study explored the effects of drought stress on the antibacterial activity of five medicinal plant species. Leaves of four coastal sage scrub plants were collected over four months from the end of the dry season to the beginning of the wet season. Additionally, oregano plants were grown in a controlled environment under three different drought treatments. Following ethanol extract preparation, the disk diffusion method was utilized to assess antibacterial activity of the extracts against two gram-positive bacteria in response to drought stress. There were varying trends in the antibacterial activity of the coastal sage scrub plants compared to cumulative rainfall levels. Meanwhile, conditioned oregano plants displayed a positive relationship between drought stress and antibacterial activity where the most severe drought-stressed oregano had the highest antibacterial activity.
